USMLE Seminar at the I.M. Sechenov First MSMU

USMLE 02On the 15th of November 2013 Sechenov Malaysian Student Association (SMSA) organized United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) seminar held at the Red Hall of the Scientific Research Centre.

This event exposed over 100 international and Russian students of various academic years to newest updates and methods of examination of the highly recognised USMLE. Respected guest of honour, Dr Inder Pahal, the Regional Director of Kaplan Medical was the keynote speaker of this event.USMLE 03

The event commenced precisely at 5.30 pm with a warm welcoming speech by Dean of International Students, Prof Oleg S. Glazachev. With an impressive 20 years of experience to share, Dr Inder briefed students on the applicability of a USMLE in worldwide medicine. With USMLE gradually being recognised worldwide, medical graduates’ especially international students are now widely coveted for in medical Residency Programs in Canada, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates as well as the United States of America, creating alternative residency and training programs for students after completing basic training in Medicine.

USMLE 04Dr Inder Pahal, who is actively involved in shaping up many of Kaplan Medical’s USMLE Program, clearly explained the steps in undertaking this examination and the need for students to start preparing for this exam from pre-clinical years in Medical School. While the process of examination is updated from time to time, we were able to be informed on all sections and formats of the exam, including the marking scheme andUSMLE 06 type of questions asked during the exam, giving the students a glimpse of a real USMLE Test Paper.

The highlight of this event however, was when Dr Inder Pahal selected five random students to receive QBank worth USD $299, a software enabling students to USMLE Material by Kaplan Medical. These fortunate students were certainly envied by every student in the room.

The event ended when Miss Ng Valynne, President of SMSA, presented Dr Inder Pahal with a plaque of appreciation, thanking him for his undeniable service to the students of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

SMSA is proud that this event was a success and has given the students valuable information and input on the USMLE. We would like to wish the best of luck to students who will partake in this examination and continue their medical profession in Residency programs worldwide.
